Foxtel on Xbox 360 vs Multiroom

Last week I made a post about my Impressions of the Foxtel on Xbox 360 service.

As I mentioned, I was uncertain if the service was chargeable for existing Xbox 360 customers as press articles indicated that the service is free but I couldn’t find anything on the Foxtel site to support this.

For example, from this article:

Existing Foxtel customers won’t have to pay for the service, but will have to subscribe to the Gold XBox live service, which is about $8 month.

However, upon receiving my first Foxtel bill since subscribing to the service I am definitely charged for it:

This confirms my original thoughts, and makes the Foxtel on Xbox 360 service unviable for existing Foxtel customers. Over a 12 month period, excluding bandwidth, it would cost me a premium of more than $600 to use the Foxtel on Xbox 360 service rather than simply connecting a Foxtel multiroom service:

I will be cancelling my Foxtel on Xbox 360 service before the month ends.
