This site is no longer using DominoBlog. This post is for historical reasons only.

I have been contemplating starting up my journal/blog again for quite some time now, but haven’t been certain what software to use.

My previous journal used some custom software that I had written in PHP. It was lacking in some areas, particular archives and I never got around to fixing it up.

Last week, as I was browsing through some IBM Lotus Notes/Domino resources, I came across an article about blogging software for Domino and thought that it would be a perfect opportunity to start up my journal again.

I ended up evaluating three Domino blogging templates:

  • s3maphor3
  • BlogSphere
  • DominoBlog

DominoBlog was the last one that I tried, and it was also the one that I decided on. It fitted my purposes well, was easy to use and also easy to customise. It has quite an intuitive interface within Notes that allows me to blog “on the go”, with my entries appearing when I replicate next.

Even though my journal won’t be based on Domino itself (although I may post entries on Domino occasionally), I thought that it would be an interesting server environment to host my journal – simply to be different ;-)
